The Power of a Monthly Donation: Changing Lives Year-Round

In the fight to build affordable homes for families in Fayette County, every dollar counts. But did you know that a monthly donation can make an even bigger impact? When you give consistently, you’re helping Habitat for Humanity not just build homes, but also sustain ongoing projects and provide long-term stability for families in need.

Why Recurring Donations Matter

A one-time gift is powerful, but the strength of recurring donations lies in their consistency. By committing to a monthly gift, you help Fayette County Habitat for Humanity plan ahead, fund essential materials, and continue working year-round, no matter the season. Whether we’re building in the heat of summer or the chill of winter, your reliable support keeps hammers swinging and hope alive.

“Monthly donors are the lifeblood of our operation,” says Kenny Couch, Executive Director of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity. “Because of their generosity, we can focus less on fundraising and more on what matters most—building homes and helping families move toward stability.”

How a Monthly Gift Sustains Projects

When you set up a recurring donation, you’re helping Habitat create a dependable funding stream that allows us to commit to more projects, purchase materials in bulk, and complete homes on schedule. This steady support means we can plan long-term, from breaking ground to handing over the keys to a family’s new home or providing homes repair services to those most in need.

Here's an example: Anton "Ed" Harrison, is a Fayette County veteran who has been through more than most of us could imagine. Since losing his wife four years ago, Ed has been living alone, and life has thrown more than a few challenges his way. Recently, Ed had to make an SOS call to 911 because he was out of food for himself and his beloved dogs. His car wouldn't start, his phone bill was past due, and he’s been without running water in the house since the last freeze.

But Ed's story doesn't end here—it’s where our community's support can make a real difference.

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity is blessed to be able to begin helping Ed out by getting him access to running water again allowing him to be able to properly cook and clean in his home. We are committed to restoring hope and dignity in his life no matter how long it takes. But we can't do it alone. We need your help to continue performing life-changing projects like this.

Real-Life Example: Eric Green, Recurring Donor and Dedicated Volunteer

Eric Green knows firsthand the importance of monthly donations. As both a recurring donor and a member of our board, he has seen how continuous support transforms lives. Eric is not only committed to giving financially, but he also volunteers regularly with the Habitat Home Cookers. He’s been instrumental in supporting fundraising efforts like the Schulenburg Sausage Festival and Schutzenfest at Kirsch Monument and Brewery in La Grange. Plus, every first Saturday of the month, you can find Eric cooking up tacos for shoppers and volunteers at the Habitat Home Supply in Schulenburg.

“As a board member, I see firsthand how monthly donations directly impact the families we serve,” Eric says. “These contributions go beyond just funding homes—they transform lives. Every dollar helps build stability, security, and a better future for the families moving into their new homes. It’s incredible to witness how their lives are changed for the better, and that’s what keeps me motivated to give and stay involved.”
