Fayette County Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) is pleased to announce the selection of the partner family for their milestone tenth home build.
This year, the honor goes to Mr. Wright, a dedicated single father of four children. Despite this,
Mr. Wright works tirelessly at two jobs to provide a stable home for his family. Currently
employed as the lead prep chef at Dell Seaton Medical Center at the University of Texas, he
commutes from his apartment in La Grange to Austin. On his days off, Mr. Wright works part-
time as the assistant cook at Schulenburg Regency. Currently, Mr. Wright shares a two-bedroom
apartment with his four children aged 7, 11, 14, and 17, and is excited to be moving into a home
with adequate space for the five of them.
Habitat selects partner families based on several criteria, including their level of need for
housing, their willingness to work alongside volunteers and their ability to pay an affordable
mortgage. The concept of "sweat equity" is an integral part of the Habitat program, whereby partner families contribute their time and effort to the construction process. Mr. Wright has
displayed great enthusiasm in participating in the building of his future home and has shown the
dedication and financial capability to fulfill his mortgage obligations.
Fayette County Habitat for Humanity is proud to collaborate with individuals and families in our
community, assisting them in building or improving a place they can proudly call home. By
working hand in hand with volunteers, Habitat homeowners actively participate in the
construction process while also paying an affordable mortgage. Through your support, Habitat
homeowners can achieve the strength, stability, and independence necessary to create a better
life for themselves and their families.
“We're excited to continue building homes for hard-working families here in Fayette County. It
has been a pleasure to meet and get to know Mr. Wright and we look forward to working with
him and his kids to make the dream of homeownership a reality,” said Kenny Couch, Habitat
Executive Director, “We ask everyone in the community to come together with us to help bless
this family with a place they can truly call home. If you, your business, your church, or your
friends are interested in being a part of this life-changing experience please reach out to us to get involved!”
